Petersburg, MI - Making a Mantle Part IV
Here are some new pictures of the mantle and corbles being stained. At this point, they have 3 coats of stain on them, and I am getting ready to apply the polyurethane. Obviously, this is not an overnight process! Each coat has to dry completely to get the best results. Additionally, if I want an extreme shine with the poly, steel wool is used between each application, which lengthens the finishing phase.
However, once this is complete, I will be ready to hang the mantle, then apply the surrounding trim, and the project will be complete! It's almost done!!!
